Note the multiple different styles of ASICs on the board, with dates ranging from 1992 to 1996 and a mix of newer and older packaging styles. When introduced, the Onyx came with a different CPU board designed around the R4000 processor. The IP25 is a redesigned CPU board that shoehorns the newer R10K processor into the older Onyx system architecture. - OH NOES! IT'S THE DREAD INST MONSTER! RUN!!!!
And you thought installing Linux was hard. Reinstalling the OS after installing bigger disks. The SGI install process is, to put it politely, somewhat counterintuitive. - Inst closeup
